Forestry Division

Forestry Division of the RA Ministry of Agriculture is a structural subdivision of the Ministry set up on September 5 of 2002 by order N1516-N of the RA Government.

 

The Division pursues its activities based on the requirements of the RA legislation and other legal acts.

  

Goal of the Division  

 

 - Sustainable management of the forests in harmony with natural environment and consistent expansion of forest lands.

 

Objectives of the Division

 

  • Development and realization of the RA policy for preservation, protection, reproduction and use of the forest lands in the Republic of Armenia. 
  • Exercising control over the activities of forestry management and use of forests. 

 

The Division performs the following functions to achive its goals and objectives:

 

  1. development of state programs for preservation, protection, reproduction and use of forests and ensuring the realization of these programs,
  2. coordination of the activities directed at forest preservation, protection, reproduction and use,
  3. development of sector related legal acts and submission for approval,
  4. study of reports on forestry management,
  5. study of  presented forest using projects to provide forests and forest lands for utilization,
  6. participation in the works to develop RA state budget draft and ensuring target and efficient use state fund allocations,
  7. study of  activities for forestry management and utilization,
  8. study of  state forest monitoring data,
  9. conclusion received from “Hayantar” state non-commercial organization about silviculture projects submitted to the approval of the RA Ministry of Agriculture and receipt, summarizing of the opinion from “Forest State Monitoring Center” state non-commercial organization and submission of justified negative or positive opinion about approval or rejection of  the project,
  10. preparation of proposals about the activities based on commitments of the Republic of Armenia towards the European Landscape Convention ratified by the Republic of Armenia,
  11. cooperation with public, non-public organizations in the context of issues relating to the sector, as well as with  international organizations for sustainable management of the forests, 
  12. discussions on sector related  proposals and questions received from the RA citizens  and  relevant responding.
