anasnabujutyunThe veterinary care plays a great role in the country’s sustainable development.

 

The routine work of veterinarian first includes prevention of contagious diseases and activities for disease control.   

 

Within long development period new methods for diagnosing contagious diseases, control and special preventing bio vaccines have been worked out.

 

Control over infectious animal diseases, including diseases common for animals and human (zooantroponoze) is a general challenge for the country. 

 

Given to difficult epidemiological situation regarding infectious animal diseases overall in the region and particularly in the country and guided by the provisions of the RA law on “Veterinary Care”  each year  within the frame of “Agricultural livestock vaccination program”   for creating and maintaining stable epidemic situation in the country the RA Ministry of Agriculture pursues activities for preventing infectious animal diseases,  including diseases common for animals and human (zooantroponoze), particularly for the following diseases: brucellosis of  agricultural livestock, tuberculosis of big cattle,  anthrax of agricultural livestock, brad sot of  small cattle, murrain of small cattle,  pasteurellosis, blackleg, malarial fever of big cattle, classical pig plague, Newcastle avian disease, Varro destructor of bees.

 

Since 2012 the activities for prevention of agricultural livestock diseases have been implemented by “Service center for veterinary sanitary, food safety and phytosanitary” State non-commercial organization affiliated to the RA Ministry of Agriculture through 630 veterinarians providing services to the communities, as well as through regional epidemiologists.  

 

Preventive measures and diagnostic investigations under the “Agricultural livestock vaccination program”  promote the creation of stable epidemic situation in the country, provision of safe animal  food and raw materials, protection of  households from infectious diseases common for human and animals, as well as establishment of stable intergovernmental economic relations.      

 

In 2013 the draft of protocol decision was adopted on “Approval of the concept to exercise control over brucellosis of agricultural livestock in the Republic of Armenia.

 

On 13 March, 2014 the Armenian Government approved the Government’s draft decision on “Approval of the project of cattle numbering, record keeping and registration and the events schedule providing the implementation of the project”.

 

On 21 June, 2014  the National Assembly adopted the  law on “Veterinary Care”.

 

The following orders are developed in collaboration with various stakeholders for prompt reaction to new cases of animal and human infectious diseases and improvement of information exchange procedure:

 

  • The joint order of the RA Ministers of Health, Agriculture, Emergency Situations, Nature Protection on “Approval of the standard procedure providing mechanisms and defining processes among the National Coordination Body and the RA Ministry of Agriculture, the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations, the RA Ministry of Nature Protection”.
  • The joint order of the RA Ministers of Health, Agriculture, Emergency Situations on “Approval of the list of overall priority human and animal infectious diseases”.
  • The joint order of the RA Ministers of Health, Agriculture, Emergency Situations on “Approval of the report form for the implementation of exercises.”
  • The joint order of the RA Ministers of Health, Agriculture on “Approval of brucellosis disease prevention, epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, preventive measures, methodological guide”.
  • The joint order of the RA Ministers of Health, Agriculture on “Approval of human, animal and human overall infectious disease risk assessment, management and reduction methodology”.
  • The joint order of the RA Ministers of Health, Emergency Situations, Defence, Agriculture, Nature Protection, the Chairman of the State Committee of Water Economy of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration, the Head of the RA Police, the Head of the National Security Service on “Approval of the methodical guide for management of human and animal infectious disease outbreaks.

 

For prevention and effective control over animal and human infectious diseases close cooperation of all the stakeholders in the process of epidemiological, veterinary, quick response and preventive activities is of great importance.
