Mr. Ignati Arakelyan, RA Minister Of Agriculture. The More Good Specialists We Have, The Sooner We Will Succeed

1Mr. Ignati Arakelyan, Minister of Agriculture of RA participated in graduation ceremony of awarding certificates to the participants of “Management of Food Safety Systems” educational program in Agribusiness Teaching Centre of the Armenian National Agrarian University. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Ishkhan Karapetyan, Head of State Service for Food Safety of RA MoA, Ms. Deborah Grieser, Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Armenia, Mr. Arshaluys Tarverdyan, Rector of Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU), professors and other representatives.

 

Congratulating the participants and welcoming them for organizing such courses, the Minister expressed hope that USAID and US Government are going to come up with new projects related to the development of agricultural education.

 

“Education is very important for the consistent development of all fields and having highly qualified specialists is priority for us. It is also very important to use your knowledge in practice acquired during these courses and to bring a new culture to our reality. Food safety and quality will always be in the centre of our attention, and surely, the more good specialists we have, the sooner we will succeed”,- Mr. Ignati Arakelyan noted.

 

Minister informed that State Service for Food Safety of RA MoA is ready to give job opportunity for the best students who have completed that course.

 

Mr. Arshaluys Tarverdyan, Rector of Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU) welcomed the participants and noted that it was necessary to introduce also changes and developments in the educational programs of agricultural university based on modern requirement which make them to expect great results especially from programs implemented within the framework of international cooperation.

 

In this context Rector highly appreciated cooperation with USAID and InnovATE/Armenia projects, which gives an opportunity to confirm contacts with Pennsylvania State University and Virginia Tech University and cultivate a module of compact intensive projects with 6 separated components which was implemented in January in Agricultural university.

 

One-month intensive course provided for the students of Agribusiness Teaching Centre of Armenian National Agrarian University was implemented by ICARE Foundation by the assistance of USAID and InnovATE/Armenia projects. The course was conducted by the professors of Pennsylvania State University and Virginia Tech University.

 

The course included an introduction of food science, sanitation and food microbiology, processing controls and acid food, HACCP system and modules of food protection. The course was accompanied by workshops and visits to processing companies.
