The RA Minister of Agriculture Received the Delegation of the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council

1The RA Minister of Agriculture received the delegation of the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council of France, comprising Edouard Simonian, the Vice-President of the Rhône-Alpes Region, Rachel HAAB, the Director of “Europe, Cooperation and International Relations” and Anahit Davtyan, the Representative of the Rhône-Alpes Region in Armenia. The meeting was also attended by the President of the Union of Communities of Armenia Emin Yeritsyan.

 

Welcoming the guests, the Minister highly appreciated the projects implemented in Armenia by the Council, as well as the cooperation with the Union of Communities of Armenia.

 

“In recent years considerable progress has been recorded in the agricultural sector, which has been greatly contributed by the Council’s projects. However there are still a number of issues that will need to be solved,” Sergo Karapetyan said in his speech.

 

Among the sector priorities the Minister outlined the issues of the construction of fruit and vegetables, milk and meat processing workshops, refrigerators and dryers, the issues of marketing and sales of agricultural products as well as the strengthening of consulting services.

 

The Minister also highlighted the need for diversification of cheese production, which will allow local production to be exported to EEU large-scale market.

 

Referring to the Armenian winemaking the Minister noted that  in recent times this branch also has a tendency to development in our country, but the issue of the training of Armenian specialists and the investment of new  technologies is still relevant, in respect of which the Armenian side expects the Council’s support. 

 

In order to solve the aforementioned issues Sergo Karapetyan proposed to discuss the possibility of including those issues in their upcoming projects.

 

During the meeting the sides also discussed issues related to the development of organic agriculture.

 

The head of the delegation Edouard Simonian in his turn assured that the Council will continue to support the development of the agriculture sector.
