The Minister of Agriculture Received the Ambassador of Iran

The RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan received Mr. Mohammad Raiesi, the Ambassador of Iran to Armenia, on the occasion of completing his diplomatic mission.
Welcoming the guest the Minister Sergo Karapetyan noted that during Mr. Raiesi’s tenure the Armenian-Iranian relations have become stronger and more active especially in the agricultural sector. In this context, the Minister stressed the importance of building slaughterhouses, which will not only contribute to the safe and qualified meat production, but also to the increase of exports to neighboring countries.
Referring to the bilateral programs of the agriculture sector the Minister said that there is still untapped potential for cooperation between the two countries and we can get impressive achievements through more efficient use of that potential.
Thanking for warm reception the Ambassador said that he was consistently praised by Sergo Karapetyan’s concern and efforts to develop the sector.
Noting that the Eurasian Economic Union opens broad opportunities for Armenia the Ambassador expressed confidence that the new Armenian-Iranian joint ventures will not only increase the volume of agricultural products in the country, but also will increase exports to EEU countries.
The Minister Sergo Karapetyan proposed to organize a business forum of agricultural sector in Armenia, which will enable Armenian and Iranian businessmen to get acquainted with the production of food products of the two countries and which will be a stimulus for bilateral ties.
During the meeting the Minister asked the Ambassador to convey his Iranian counterpart to visit Armenia. In response the Ambassador said that Iran’s Agriculture Minister plans to visit Armenia to discuss and outline prospects for future cooperation.
In conclusion the Minister reiterated the readiness for strengthening the Armenian-Iranian cooperation in the field of agriculture, and the Ambassador Mohammad Raiesi wished him every success and fruitful work.
